8pre Firmware Update...

Post by MotuDoggy »

Hi all,

I'm sorry if this is obvious, I've done some searching without any luck here. Maybe I missed it.

I'm trying to update my 8pre for my Windows XP system. Every time I run the updater it says "There are no devices in update state. Please turn on the device."

It is of course on, but no luck after multiple reboots and driver installs...anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Check the manual, I dont have an 8pre, but inorder to put my 828mk3 into a firmware upgrade state it's a set of buttons to push at power up. Not just the default on/off switch. Wish I could be of more help.

The 8pre doesn't have a button combo that you have to hold to boot it into the firmware update mode. The firmware update program sends a message to the interface that puts it in the update mode. If the update program isn't detecting the interface, it might be because you haven't installed the latest driver version. The firmware update program will only work if you have the current driver version installed.

Great...the latest drivers cause my computer to blue screen. Any time I try to install them, the update process either hard locks my PC or causes a blue screen. I've tried many times to update the drivers including complete removal of the old ones etc.

I was finally advised that the drivers were not installing.....because the firmware needed updated!

This is like a bad joke.
