Dark Mod 4.0.2 update available now!!
Hi guys!!
I've decided to set up a Website with all my DP 6.x and DP7.x Mods.
For those that are using my Mods it would be nice if you could visit and register and also download all new updates .
These updates are available for free (although any donations will be gratefully accepted).
New updates have some graphic maintenance and improvements and there are compatible with newest versions of DP. There is also a new Mod which is my favorite: Dark Mod 7.x
So feel free to visit any time.
Any comments here or there are always very welcome.
I have to thanks James and all of you and wish you happy Holidays too.
iP's Mods (Click Here)
Cheers.

Re: New DP6 GUI...
Nice colours, but the faders seem to look more 'toyish' than the originals IMO.

Hi HobbyCore. I respect your opinion. Those faders were take from a real Solid State Logic Mixer...

Re: New DP6 GUI...
It's not really the faders as much as it is the '3d' look with the 2d look of the rest of the mixer. It stands out too muchiPerformer wrote:HobbyCore wrote:Nice colours, but the faders seem to look more 'toyish' than the originals IMO.

If you could soften the 3d look of the faders then it would match much better I think.

Anyway I've read some other posts here and I'm pretty worry about if this is legal or not. I mean I don't want to do anything ilegal and overall against MOTU.
Just wanted to share what I've done same as you... Hope somebody could tell us if this is legal or not...What do you think?
Cheers.

Re: New DP6 GUI...
I've read this on another thread :

So, I decided to better keep the new GUI away. Sorry...billf wrote:With copyright law, assumptions are not a good defense.piranesi wrote:I can't imagine that modifying the brightness of the screen would bring a squad of lawyers to your door. You are not modifying and re-selling for gain functioning code rather a settings or preferences file- and as the contents of that are personal I see no problems.
If anyone wishes to see my humble efforts I will post a link later today. My settings are not perfect but for me they are better. Remember, if you are going to modify the Default_Style.xml always keep a back up.
When I posted my mod pics a few weeks ago and considered making them public I received some private correspondence advising me that such an action may indeed violate the EULA (note: it wasn't from MOTU). Whether it does or not is still not 100% clear, and I would prefer clearance before joining in on public uploading of GUI mods. Just my .02¢ on the matter.

I'll try to write to my contacts at MOTU and see if I can get any sort of official or even "off the record" response from them as to what their preferences are.

Re: New DP6 GUI...
If modding graphic elements of software was a problem, I don't think software such as Shapeshifter, Kaleidoscope (old days), IconFactory, etc, etc, etc would have ever come into being. And those people were making $$$$ selling software to mod the look of the OS. Now were they all paying licensing to Apple? I don't know. I would guess not. So I don't think MOTU is really going to get all in a hissy about this. If this kind of tinkering brings more users happily into the fold, I can't imagine what reason they'd have for not allowing it. Especially since none of us are asking for monetary compensation. We're not redistributing any of the core code that actually makes DP tick, just what amounts to preference files.

Re: New DP6 GUI...
Actually, I remember Kaleidoscope and I think they had to get Apple's approval-- at least Apple looked the other way. Legally, it wouldn't surprise me at all if making modifications to the application (even cosmetic ones) might technically be against their licensing agreement. It really boils down to what MOTU thinks of it and if it's cool with them or not. If it turns out they have a problem with it, then I would have to honor that.amplidood wrote:If modding graphic elements of software was a problem, I don't think software such as Shapeshifter, Kaleidoscope (old days), IconFactory, etc, etc, etc would have ever come into being. Re: New DP6 GUI...
I like the new GUI.
More zen - like IMHO.
Vertical zoom in TO is great.
While editing I use positive screen display, when not, negative one.
Shortcut : alt+opt+com+8
