828 mk 1 & OS X 10.4.11 problems.

I have a 8pre which installs and works fine, then i bought a second hand 828 mk1 to chain with it. i have been using the 8pre main outs up until now and the MIDI off the 828 mk1, all the inputs working fine. the problem is i can't get any of the outputs to work on the 828. the cuemix consol doesn't recognize the 828 either. the firewire cable attached to the computer is from the 8pre as the 828 only has one socket. Now, trying the 828mk1 on it's own with the latest drivers i can't get input or outputs to work. Can anybody help me on this issue? thanks Sean

Cuemix software is not working with 828mk1.
The Motu driver allows to chose 1 analog input and send it (dry !) directly to monitor mix thru monitor fader without latency.
BTW there's no MIDI connexion on 828mk1 either.
But IMHO, it's still a good FW-audio, Adat and Spdif box.

thanks for the info. actually with the 8pre all the analog inputs, on the 828 mk1 work fine, but connected to computer on it's own no input or output at all. any ideas?

Sounds like you might have a defective FireWire port on the 828. Try using a different cable and connecting to a different port on the computer or even to a different computer. I had an original 828 that the FireWire port went out on and it wouldn't show up in any of my audio apps. Good luck.

Of course you do use the lattest Motu Usb-FW driver ?

yeah , i'm using the new drivers. the thing is when chained with 8pre the inputs work.
