896 mk3 and Logic output routing question

Post by funkmuffin »

From Logic's point of view, which output pair is the headphone out? Since they're simply numbered, and there are so many, it's tough to tell.

I'm laying out my session templates for Logic, but am at home, and not at the studio. I would just try each one until I get a signal, but the machine is 20 miles away...

TIA

I managed to beack to the studio last night and figured this one out via the process of elimination. By default, Logic uses its own naming convention for the device's ins and outs. So I had a list of "1 & 2" thru "15 & 16". The Phones are 15 & 16 for anyone else who will need this someday.

Check out the section of the manual titled "Audio Input and Output Names" that begins on page 64. It lists the order of the inputs and outputs at the various sample rates. To make it even easier on yourself, turn on the option in Logic to show audio I/O names. I'm pretty sure that feature has been in there since at least version 7, probably earlier.
The leading cause of wrong answers is asking the wrong questions.
