DAE + D.P.4.52 and the wait

Post by burger »

Hi fellow members. I know some of you out there are using your D.P. as a front end for Pro Tools HD Accel systems. Here's my dilemma. This is a very cool and great sounding set up for me but it takes 1:30 to open a new D.P. session just for the D.P. screen to appear. Then it takes another minute for it to become operational. The bouncing takes 45 seconds to engage. Is anyone getting quicker results than this using D.P. 4.5x in DAE audio system mode???

thanks,

b.

If you have "always look for beats" turned on in preferences
that will certainly make Dp take longer to become operational.
As for it taking that long to just launch, I'm not sure.
I can launch fairly large sessions on a Single G5 1.8 and it
takes about 20 seconds.
That's with a •••• load of plugins all turned on.

Hi Buns

I've posted this before but I find that keeping the soundbites window closed speeds up everything immensely. I have a similar setup to you and launching a new Performer file takes about 20-25 seconds and that's to get to the point where I can press record. The application launch splash screen takes 3-5 seconds to come up. A file that has thousands of soundbites and 30-40 chunks takes about 45-60 to become totally operational. Bouncing takes no time at all to engage. Something is definately amiss in your system. Does is take this long if you launch in MIDI only or using MAS?

Thanks for the feedback. I'll try some of the suggestions you both made.

I don't have this problem at all when I'm in the MOTU audio system mode.

I tried turning off the "always look for beats" option and opening the session with the soundbite windows closed and still have the same problem. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

I'd trash my DP and DAE preferences and reset them. If that didn't work, I'd remove all plugins except Didgidesign's and run the system at the most basic level. If things are then fixed I'd put the rest of the plugins back into the plugin folder a few at a time to see if a particular plugin is the culprit. Is you DAE software and Pro Tools software the latest versions? What version of OSX are you running? Does this also happen when launching Pro Tools? Does this happen if you launch DP from the application icon rather than from an existing file (I had problems with a template I always used as a starting point for a project-it turned out to be corrupt causing me no end of problems)? You also might try removing the 2408 from your setup if all else fails. Good luck.
