It's funny how we all are, I am a long time DP user that now uses Logic as well. I like things in BOTH programs very much, and use them for different things.
In DP, I use it when I am doing audio editing. Like film audio. I can do 50+ tracks of an hour and a half movie and have NO problem with automation in DP. Cannot do that in Logic (although I think DP6 has a memory leak. I turn off more than a few undos and it still keeps eating more memory as I edit until it maxes out at 4G)
I write a lot of synth pop and I prefer to actually write it in Logic. Logic has a more efficient VI system in terms of system resources. I also like the MIDI region implementation and coloring MUCH better as I use the colors of regions for easy identification of parts or similar phrases I have moved to multiple tracks. The multipass cycle record for the MIDI is AWESOME for me. Also, I think the built in synths sound MUCH BETTER than the DP ones. I use sculpture all the time.
That said, there are things in DP I think are superior.
ProVerb does sound better than Space Designer, I will agree. However, I bought altiverb and it sounds better than both of those
Masterworks EQ works GREAT. No comparison to me in terms of non-coloration EQ work.
Pattern gate has no equivalent in Logic. It works awesome. I am writing one for Logic, but nevertheless, I love using the pattern gate. For now I use CamelSpace to do some gating, but doesn't sound as good to me.
Logic also has Delay Designer which is AWESOME.
So, I end up using them both, so I can get the best of both worlds!
To make it worse, I am getting ready to buy Abeleton Live because I am putting together a live show that is very much in the style of 'Underworld' (Hit song Born Slippy) and cannot see doing what I need to do with MIDI loops in Logic OR DP.
I will say this too, for live shows, I would ABSOLUTELY use DP over logic. I've performed many times with DP running and NEVER had an incident. I do not trust Logic that much, and having no chunks, it's a pain in the neck and requires 3rd party software to switch songs easily.
So welcome!
