I do A/D transfers, restoration, editing of FX for theater design, tracking of acoustic instruments, and most of all mixing. God, how lovely it is to mix in DP.

breakbeat and drum n bass mainly, heavy on the tribal influences, love lots of congas, tablas, bongos & eclectic drum sounds.

I am looking to get my album out and possibly get into video game soud design and soundtracking, how didi you get into gaming sound Dwetmaster?

Film & television music here. I started using DP for large orchestral scoring, but I can do any style I want in it......... which is why I use it :)

I just finished helping another composer with a french film. We used everything to make the score: DP, Logic, Live, ProTools, Kontakt, Gigastudio, and orchestra....... it's good to know that DP plays so well with other programs too.
12-Core Mac Pro, OS: Sierra w/ DP9 - always the latest version. Love of film music.

Industrial, Goth, Electronica, Dance, Blues, Rock, Metal....I guess you could say anything but country for me as well.

Also just finished doing a movie soundtrack in DP6 and Logic 8. I wrote about 8 songs for the movie, used a score written by another musician, and also used 3 other musicians works. Did all the ADR work, Foley and SFX in DP and Sound Track Pro (DO NOT use sound track pro, it is horrible). Did all my music tracks in Logic.

Moving forward I am going to start doing the incidental music in DP (orchestral mostly, little things) as it makes sense to do this instead of a lot of little projects for tiny clips.

(Movie is Dogs of Chinatown)

You guys are funny. :D I use DP for mostly country. I used to use a Roland hard disk recorder (which I kinda liked), but my wife fliped out and poured a coke (or somethin') on it - and that was the end of that. I had DP for VI's, so it was a natural progression - and it's workin' out just fine, thank you very much. But I also do some new age and commercials and some orchestral.

Haha. :) Not that there is anything wrong with country, it's just not my bag :) (Well, other than Johnny Cash)

One Hit Wonder in training ;-)

Mostly electronic stuff... (Acid House, Breakbeat, Drum n Bass, Hip Hop, Dub)... anything but country - wait, I did do a country demo for a friend of mine, but it sucked (not that country sucks, I just suck at doing country... it sounded like me doing a country song)...

I'm also starting to do more sound and music for short films and commercials...

Well I don’t know quite know what I was expecting when I started this thread, but I am completely stunned by the diversity of the responses! I had no idea so many people were using DP for so many different kinds of music. Incredible.

Thanks! :D

Yea thats for PC software.....
Haha – THAT was funny – but I’m not sure it’s PC to say so :P

Thanks to Dwetmaster and hrw, it’s experiences such as yours that keep me trying to get happy with DP!
Ok, I'll admit I have done some Country with DP.

Being that most of my work is for TV and film, I do all kinds of music, from orchestral to nu-metal.
With an application as complete and elegant as DP, and all the other top contenders, there's no limit (posed by the app.) as to what type of music one can produce.

I use it for electro rock and experimental and for recording bands everything from rock, indie, punk and pop.

No country though because DP hates the 2 feel in G major with the ascending bass line and crashes every time. I've talked to MOTU countless times about it and they told me one the original programers had a very bad experience with country music in the early 80's and wrote deep in the code this bug as revenge.

Sorry for the general title – but I’d just like to build a picture of what kinds of music people are writing with DP. I know it’s well accepted by film / TV composers, but I’m sure it’s used for many other things as well.
Good & bad. :)

I use DP in my home keyboard studio to compose/record original music. My compositions are very eclectic with influences that include Elton John, William Orbit, Jethro Tull, Miles Davis, Dave Grusin, Thomas Dolby, and Juno Reactor. People often say that my music sounds like something they might hear while watching the Discovery, National Geographic, or Travel channels on TV. I guess that's better than being told that it sounds like music from a porn film. :)

Oh, and I also create synthesizer videos that include lots of keyboard demonstrations. Total view count on YouTube alone is approaching 1,000,000, which is just amazing to me.
