mk3: DSP applied on the way into the computer ?

Post by Klaus »

Don't know if this has a technical reason, but why did they include DSP on the firewire stream into the computer ?
At least an option to switch it off, please MotU

You can disable the DSP on any input of the mk3 series. If you do want to track with EQ and/or dynamics applied to the input signal, you have that option.

You have eq and dynamics also available on output channels.

If you really did want separate EQ on input channels, but not going to the computer, you could send the inputs to ADAT out, loop the ADAT back in to input, and apply EQ on the ADAT inputs.

There are many features that 'could' have been added to the mk3 series. The features that are there are a balance of user requests vs keeping the unit within a certain price point. You may note that the 828mk3, 896mk3, and UltraLite mk3 all have the same prices as the previous versions of these models.

I understand that you want gates on input, and additional mixing capabilities. Perhaps on future models, MOTU will add features like these. Your suggestions are well appreciated!
