Can you recommend a MIDI controller keyboard?

Here's where to talk about preamps, cables, microphones, monitors, etc.

Can you recommend a MIDI controller keyboard?

Post by Jim »

I'm looking to start working with DP's Virtual Instruments, and want to buy a MIDI and/or USB keyboard that works well with DP's VIs. I'd like three octaves.

I've looked on line and some of them have programmable pots or sliders for controller data. That would be nice also, if they work well with DP.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jim

DP's VI's are the worst for hardware control, most of them dont have any MIDI learn function and they dont respond to automap. I love DP but this is their achillies heal, none of the native mas plugins have any hardware control interface that I have found suitable.

I currently use the Novation ReMote SL 37 & 25 key models, the mixer/transport controls work great, the automapping for au & vst plugins is great, but no mas support.

as of now I have not found anything that controls motu plugins (hello MOTU, are you listening?), sorry thats all I can offer.

So, I might be just as well off with one that just has keys, mod wheel and pitch bender, I take it, and pocket the difference.

Thanks!

If that's all you want for now, a low investment will get you into Korg's new nano series, which splits the drum pads, controllers knobs/sliders, and keys into three separate miniaturised surfaces about the size of a computer keyboard, and all for under $50 each (this is all from preliminary information, and I'm not sure of the actual release dates).
