Unbelievable Crashing 2 !!!!

Here is the latest.

DP 4.12 crashes when I load old sessions, or start new sessions.

It runs fine when I run in MIDI mode only

It runs fine with the plug-ins folder moved onto the desktop.

Anybody have any ideas?

I tried to read your whole previous post, sorry if this is something you have already tried ...

Have you gone into user > "name" > library > preferences and deleted the whole motu folder and all the com.motu.* prefs (NOTE: If you have any templates or command binding prefs you wish to save, just drag and save them to a desktop folder).

That's the state of DP on my system too - "just stay away from plug-ins". Logic has problems with AU'a too, though not as bad as DP. SX3 running VST's seems far more solid. Unfortunately SX has graphical sluggishness like DP. Also low buffer setting performance (for live VI play) is just as bad. Except for those two issues SX seem to be the logical choice at the moment.

If it runs fine without the plug-ins there's got to be an offending plug-in causing the problem. Take them out and put them back in halves to try to weed out the problem plug. Or have you done this already?

Dumb question: What's your MIDI interface? Is it serial or usb?

I had horrible error -103 crashes until I changed from serial to mtpav usb.

me too have same problem..i run DP 4.5 (not 4.52)
and i have match five and mrx stylus opened ,some time i can work 20 minutes and other times i am 20 minutes starting the cpu just initiate the dp and get crashed....i hate this ..i will try your ideas...........

Different beast, Richard. The -103 error caused file corruption. He's (or she's) having unexpected quits in the middle of working.

something is sure ,with the 4.12 it never crashes( i had other problems with plug ins as stylus,now i am using onyx as a tool to repair permissions ,but anyway is unbelievable thing...
i just cant work,when i had such a problems people from spectrasonics call to my house( i live at europe!!!) superb attention to costumers) people from motu send me some emails,also but i dont know if its all togheter,,or apple or DP plus apple..i really dont understand i am afraid to update to 4.52 ....maybe is worst??? or better??? who knows??

hi; i had horrible times with dp 4.12; horrible! many old projects would refuse to open.. dp 4.5 and 4.52 are much much better. motu were not able to help much, but 4.52 fixes many problems, and is better all round. get it!

but be careful of os 10.3.8; i think it has MIDI problems.. aargh!

i am looking that my cpu crashes sometimes just when i start the cpu..2 weeks ago i put new ram..
1.5 ghz and maybe that is the reason??'i will try without the ram i have 2 256 pairs and 2 512 pairs..(g4 dual 1.25)mmmmm i will look about it
4.52 makes me problmes installing autopan (702 file) maybe is better to close everything and tomorrow will be a better day

If your computer is crashing on start up the problem has nothing to do with DP, and upgrading it to 4.52 won't solve a thing. If the crashing started since the ram was installed I would suspect it.

yes..........definetly is a problem with the ram...i have pulled out the 2 512 ram memory and ..no crashes......its apple and new memory!!!! but now i cant get enough ram ...but works fine ( )how can i solve this??? dp 4.52 looks fine....and solid (maybe a bad ram????) it says <ram from apple to G4 1.25 dual

Can you return the defective ram and get your money back? If it's Apple ram you shouldn't have much trouble returning it.

I did take out all of the plugs in the MAS folder, and it worked fine for about a week. But now it is back to crashing every 5 minutes and I have done NOTHING to my computer but work on DP and Pro Tools.

Pro Tools runs fabulously

DP is unusable.
