DP6: slow response times

Post by MikeH »

Whenever I record enable (and disable) a track, or select an item from the pulldown menu at the top, the response time is really slow. No problems during recording or playback, though. Any idea on what might be causing this? In general things seem to respond much slower than when I was on 4.6.

Hey Mike, made the jump from DP4.61 eh? I'm in the process of that me-self.

What interface are you using?

Work priority is really based on the interface. What buffer are you at?

I'm currently at a 512 buffer. I'm working totally within the computer- there's no external audio interface. I am however using the MAS support bundle from 4.61 because Kontakt 2 won't work with the version 6 one. Could that be slowing things up?

Make sure that Automatic beat analysis is turned off as well.

well you could try switching them back temporarily and see if it helps...

turned beat analysis off and restored all the AU plugins to DP6 standard (except the MAS support bundle- it stayed at 4.61). Still no change. I timed the response times and it averages about 6-10 seconds of "thinking" before I can go on with my work. This happens when record-enabling/disabling tracks and even when selecting items from the top pull-down menus.

that would drive me nuts..,,

I'd definitely updating the support thingy to 6 - see if that is the cause..

perhaps some kind soul will send you the support bundle from v5? maybe that would work better?

thanks martian. oh, I forgot to mention that the reason I'm using the 4.61 MAS bundle is because DP6 crashes immediately when trying to open Kontakt 2 with the version 6 bundle. But you're right, perhaps the bundle from version 5 would solve it....

i think you need to isolate the issue first -

forget about Kontact for the min..

put the proper bundle back is that the cause?

if yes - ie squashed the slow bug -

then u might try the v5 bundle?

Deleting and rebuilding your audio bundles may help. (The input, output, instrument, and busses). BTW: does anyone know how to get rid of instruments (like Ableton Live) that are showing up in the instrument window with out uninstalling them? Could they be a source of slowdown?
