how record the sound from Apple Software Synth

Post by olivari »

hello guys,

sorry the silly question.
I want to record the sound to an audio track from the MIDI Apple Software Synth. How can I do that?

Thanks.

u can't record on aux track, what he has to do, is to freeze the selected audio apple synth track.

I think that if you can hear the apple synth then you can record it. if you create a mono or stereo audio track to record to then on the input of that track specify whatever channel the softsynth is sending on - analog, spdf, sound manager etc etc - it should record. You may need to play the softsynth track in isolation from your other tracks and don't forget to only record on the new audio track.

Go to Project>Add Track>Instrument Track>Apple: DLS Music Device

Then put the output of your MIDI Tracks to DLS Music Device instead of Apple Software Synth. You will see, they sound exactly the same, cause they are the same (with different names).

Then select this new instrument track and your MIDI tracks and choose Audio>freeze selected tracks

I think this is the fastest way.

It's too bad that the DLS Music Device doesn't show actual patch names like the Apple Soft Synth.

It helps to keep a GM chart handy to correlate the numbers with a name.

Go to Project>Add Track>Instrument Track>Apple: DLS Music Device

Where is the DLS music device located?
I just see Add multiple... or Unassigned under Instrument track?

Thx

In set up > interapplication MIDI, you have to enable the software synthesizer.

I'm going to jump on this thread, instead of startinbg a new one.... Hope no one minds?

I frequently trigger a loud, jarring, unwanted "SONIC BOOM" when selecting new DLS, soundfont patches, etc. Scares the hell out of me each time. I've grown rather superstitious, and have taken to muting my entire rig whenever adding instrument traks.

I'm still on 4.12 - is this a known bug? Sorry if this has been addressed in another thread. Had no idea how to perform a search on this one

Thx

Thanks, Arcangel and Percy. What you suggested worked fine and was simple. This still worked for me using DP 9 in 2020. I looked and looked elsewhere for the answer but only found it here! :D
