FW 800 card to use with motu 828 MK3

Post by majdid »

i have an hp dv6855ee http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/me/en/ho ... 22373.html

the specs says that it has expresscard expansion slot (compatible with both 54 and 34 formats), id like to get a new FW interface and im particualry interested in the Lacie FW 800, which is on a cardbus format.

will it work for me??

ho, yeah. and is it worth upgrading from my stock fw (no TI chipset, instead it's a RICOH)

Unless you have something you want to run at 800 there is no gain using 800 on MOTU equipment and you will need an adapter cable.

The TI chipset will help to stay in compliance with MOTU, but you should be able to find a 400 FW with a TI chipset cheaper. Why pay more for what you can't optimize.
