digimax fs vs 8pre

Post by majdid »

i'm up to expand my setup, which basically consists of an 828 mk3 and im torn apart between the Presonus Digimax FS and the MOTU 8pre

some facts:
- quality of the preamps is not really a big deal for me, need it basically to hook up all my synths, so line inputs are fine..
- i already own a motu 828 mk3, so it would be nice to use the firewire daisychaining and forget about adat for now (would probably get a couple of behringer ada8000 to use with the 828 lightpipe), AND dont forget Cuemix integration, additional 8 inputs will show on my cuemix mixer!
- 8pre not having a word clock in sucks, have heard about lot of issues getting more than one Motu device to work togheter
- the Digimax FS have indeed a full word clock connectivity, BUT again there is no firewire, so will have to "waste" 8 adat channels from the 828

i think that im looking more for a sort of an 8chanel expansion to my 828, rather than a "new" interface. i thought that motu will be a great choice since there will be no new drivers installation, seamless integration kind of, using the same cuemix for both..

the 8pre seems to be perfect, plus it has one additional MIDI port :), big issue is there is no BNC in

i'm currently living in Dubai, those two devices are available even tough the price is + 100 $, looked into other options like focusrite octopre LE or TC electronics.. out of budget.

be honest :)
