Hey Mac - it's a free upgrade, no? What the heck, it's coming to your house, just try it. I'm in the same boat as you as far as the order goes. End of the line. I'm bummed, but not pissed. Not saying you shouldn't be pissed, I hate to tell someone how they should feel. But it's coming eventually, right, and what're ya gonna do - refuse delivery on something you've been anxiously awaiting? Something that by many accounts flat out ROCKS? Who knows why companies make decisions like these. But overall I have a good feeling about MOTU and their customer care. I hope you get it and like it and decide to stick with it. Besides, I'm gonna to need all the help I can get.
Och, I'm just grouchy because it just seems to be one thing after another with MOTU and me. All this carry-on with DP6 and before that the 828 MKIII with it's pops and whistles that I had to return. I'll probably give it a go when it arrives. And James, sorry for being so black and white about things. Put a smiley face after your jokes though.

Yeah, I had the same anger raging in me before my first lay. All these other guys were getting all the chicks first... I was definitely better than some of those goons, although they talked to the girls before I could muster up the nerve and get the chance. But, eventually the day came...

This is for real? You're going to change DAWs because MOTU had to make choices about whom to serve first, and chose to go with cash-flow, which any small company desperately needs. This has made you so angry that you've dropped MOTU, or they've "lost you as a customer?"

Anger issues, my friend. Cool down and accept your FREE UPGRADE when it reaches you. Try serving tens of thousands of people who all want your product at the same time. It's not easy. The fact is, they need the cash flow even to pay for the postage. Free upgrades have to wait.

I was in my neighborhood Apple store a couple of days ago, and someone announced "we now have some 3G iPhones in. If you're here for an iPhone, please form a line over here. The people who were close by rushed in and got a front position in the queue. In seconds, the line had run out the door, around the corner and down the street. Those in the rear had to wait in the hot sun for probably an hour or two to get their iPhone. Poor things. But they still waited. Moral of story: some people have to be first and some have to be last. There's nothing fair about it. Had the roof caved in, those down the street would have felt blessed for being last.

It's just a matter of days or weeks. I've had to wait on many things, many times. My order got screwed up last time, and I suddenly went from first to last. Same thing happened to Frodo this time. He's still waiting, and look at all the goodness he spreads around here while he waits.

Please... I'm not saying you are wrong to be upset about waiting. But to change DAWs over it? That's an anger issue, and that much anger is not an appropriate response to an arbitrary happenstance of necessary marketing decisions that in no way singled you out personally.

My opinions only. And if I act out inappropriately, you may well return the favor. ;)

PS: One other thing: maybe you should consider how many times I've shelled out $195 for upgrades to DP and its predecessor, Performer, since 1986. I've bought DP several times, in fact (literally), and upgraded many, many times. I've got a much larger investment in this. Don't I deserve some loyalty, too? I wouldn't be upset if I were at the end of the queue; I'm just stating this for some perspective and balance.

Okay... okay. We'll go covert then. We'll try and arrange for Gibson to acquire Cubase from Steinberg and that should kill them more effectively with less collateral damage.

I want my Ethernet guitar!! You hear me Henry J??!!

ha

that was beautiful.

and in a way, i do feel blessed, because that is kinda what happened.

or more like just a couple areas of the drop tile ceiling gave out, and a few people up front got pissed off because they took a couple of those big white tiles to the face, and it created a small but manageable mess.

mostly cosmetic damage.

i'm hoping they have most of the tidying up done by the time i get inside.

meanwhile, i feel lucky to hear all of the bruised earlybirds' stories, and methods of coping, as they exit the store, bleeding, into the hot, hot sun.

if the mess isn't cleaned up, at least i know where not to step.

does that make any sense?

Oh, man... at first I thought you said "We'll go CONVERT THEM." Suddenly I had images of us going door to door in pairs, carrying the good book -- the DP Manual, and telling everyone to RTFM for the true path to nirvana.

Hmmm... it's doable. It's doable.

"Brothahs and Sistahs! Come all ye round! Have ye been to the great Country Club on the Mountain? Come fly on the Magic Unicorn and play some rounds on the DP course. How many holes? You mean how many tracks? Infinite, Brothahs and Sistahs! Infinite! Come join the Cornies, ride the great Unicorn, Read the F_cking Manual, and experience infinity of tracks!

I think it's time for Magic Dave to tour with a big tent and a DP-gospel choir.

I think you misunderstand what I am saying. Whilst waiting for DP6 to be released and to arrive, I have found a way of working with products I already have which suits me perfectly so I probably don't need DP6. The other stuff about anger issues doesn't really apply - I'm just voting with my feet due to a few negative experiences with MOTU products. Although I just know when I sell DP6 I will run into a situation which my alternative setup can't handle and I'll want it back again. :D
