D6 GUI is great.

ditto on the vertical track zooming in the tracks window.

i don't think anyone will dispute that...

When I speak of how I enjoy the new GUI I speak of where they laid things out, cleaned things up---I really could give a moop about the color and shade and how it looks. As long as it's functional and does what I want it to do quickly and with ease. To me DP 6 is a marked improvement over 5 in functionality of the GUI, that's why I like it. The white doesn't bother me, actually it makes lines and sections more defined than before which makes things easier to find.

Hmmm... looks like it's time to start a new thread on being happy with the new GUI as this one has been sandbagged... LOL. Maybe "Post here ONLY if you like the DP6 GUI!" It may not get a lot of posts, but we can have a little tiny gathering there.

At the risk of going o/t here, James, since you are now the director of the country club, can we get Pat Boone in to do the new DP tutorials? In a white suit and shoes, he would look like a head and hands floating over the screen. That would be a cool effect - especially for those of us on crack.

Frankly, I'm on crack all day, but I do stand every so often.

I think some are taking things a little too seriously and have lost any sense of humor with this release. Really, the GUI is very bright. The cracks about it are funny.

I like the new GUI - except my eyes start to hurt after about 20 minutes and my cornea's are burned through. Seriously, who thought that a white GUI was a good idea???

I'm on an Apple LCD by the way.

My eyes burn just looking at snapshots of DP! Crikey!

CRTs are a part of the issue, but the real gorilla in the room (sorry MM) is that the human eye was simply not designed/evolved/(insert politically correct adjective here) to stare intently at tiny characters in a single location on a small 2 dimensional screen for hours on end. The eye was designed/evolved/whatever to be in dynamic motion, alternating focus on near, mid-field and far objects. Focusing on near-field, stationary, 2D objects for long periods of time causes eye strain. CRTs exacerbate this problem because they have more glare/reflections coming off the screen that LCDs, but CRTs are not the root cause of the problem.......excessivly bright screens, apps, also exacerbate the problem......

One of the "tests/recommendations" from the American Optometric Association is that if you turn off the room lights, and you are still able to "comfortably" read a book solely from the light generated by your computer screen, then it is too bright, and can be a contributing factor to medical problems caused by eye strain.
