Hmmm... ridicule the person who doesn't like the new GUI and you'd be called a jerk. But ridicule someone who does and it's all cool, huh? I just knew this guy would get totally jumped for having a different opinion. Gee... that's nice, huh?RecordingArts wrote:You must be on crack. I agree. If a new Pro Tools or Logic update came out that was forcing people to adjust their monitors, we'd all be sitting smug saying how silly it is to have to do that.666 wrote:This "remedy" makes me laugh. I don't have to change my monitor for anything else. Why should I have to do it when using DP? It's never been necessary in the past, why should it be necessary now? Sorry, but I find your solution to be quite lame.slicerecords wrote:also, for those of you who think it's too bright, lower the brightness of your monitor maybe....
According to my calculations, I should have the boat in port by November 16th.Alan Craig wrote:I haven't got my copy yet (apparently Aussie copies are on a banana boat chugging across the Pacific … they should be here by Christmas)...

Banana boat captain signing off.
Enjoy the perfect bloody weather up there, you bugger.
Yup, you're all over this one, Davo.Alan Craig wrote:November 16th! Wow, that's way earlier than I expected Monkey Man. You must have some wind assistance – or something!![]()
I know. I saw Big Brother.Alan Craig wrote:but our perfect weather is only a dream this week – freezing till Tuesday and fog and rain since.
Just as well; you mightn't have been able to get him to leave otherwise.Alan Craig wrote:But I had a mate up from Melbourne … and you know what they say about Melbournians: "Everywhere you go, you always take the weather with you."

I think most of us are using LCDs now, but new LCDs can be nearly as bright as CRTs. I have a Dell 30" and when DP is up full it is throwing a lot of light out. I agree that it's very white, yet I don't think that it's painful etc. I agree that it would be nice to tone it down a little, but I do like the more clean apperance of DP6, especially finally getting rid of the color bars on the soundbites.slicerecords wrote:I've really got to laugh.....
but, quite frankly----what might seem like a "lame" solution to one is a brilliant solution to another.
just a classic case of potatoes and potatoes, tomatoes and tomatoes....
Also, for those who are "blinded by the light", do you use an LCD monitor (not CRT)? My guess is you are, but if you aren't there's your problem. LCD monitor's do not damage our eyes as CRT's can.
Speaking of the LCD monitors (as opposed to CRT ones), there is a limit to the degree you can lower the brightness and most of the monitors in the market have the limit set pretty high making the whole thing senseless. One time I had to replace my newly bought monitor because it was way too bright and no adjustment helped.slicerecords wrote: Also, for those who are "blinded by the light", do you use an LCD monitor (not CRT)?
