Sure, just ask any handful of users here. Wait... No, don't do that.

The deceiving thing about forums is that it only takes a handful of complainers to make it seem like a product or company is problematic to deal with.
I certainly understand that. My previous comment was meant to be facetious.

Hey all,
ok, I'll add my bitch.... the o/p was 'guns blazin', no doubt... but I'm kinda shocked the the warranty, as in what's on paper, is less than digi,m,etc... However, I too have been treated very well regarding a pci card issue in my old machine. So really, I don't have a bitch about this either... I'm just wondering if the current policy serves MOTU well. IMO, I honestly don't think motu would really see THAT many hardware failures in the 4-12 m range... With anything electronic, I've either had stuff DOA, or fail after a week, but once the new stuff is burned in ok, usually it will last for years. It just makes them look a little skimpy (...easy...) when IMO there's no need to be. No ???
Regards, Rob
PS... motu's warranty, would never deter me using their products... I wanna 896mkIII.... I wannit, I wannit.... damn it there's a Mesa amp on sale... that's gonna have to come first....

If you own a V3HD, 828mk3, or 896mk3, take a look inside the front cover of your User Guide. The warranty period on these units is two years. Just remember to save your receipts and invoices. I think MOTU requires proof of the purchase date in order to establish the hardware's warranty status.

Sorry if my rant offended some you. I haven't yet dealt with MOTU directly, so I had no idea how they would have handled my particular situation. In theory, MOTU has no obligation to me and my hardware purchase after just 3 months. I was shocked to discover that they only offer a 3 month warranty on the 8Pre. I can't name any other pro electronics firm that has a warranty for less than 12 months.

Before I spend my hard earned cash, I like reassurance that my purchase is covered for at least a full year. This will definitely affect my next studio hardware purchase from MOTU.

Some of you suggested I contact MOTU. I didn't need to since the point of purchase (Steve's Music) gladly replaced the unit for me. I see from MOTU's web site they don't have a toll free number. More $$ down the tube.

I emailed motu tech support regarding a firmware update for the 8PRE that keeps crashing on my iMac. That was last Friday. Haven't heard anything from them yet. So much for the amazing tech support.

I don't care how good MOTU's products...here's how it should be:

APOGEE ELECTRONICS CORPORATION warrants this product to be free of defects in material and manufacture under normal use for a period of 12 months. The term of this warranty begins on the date of sale to the
purchaser. Units returned for warranty repair to Apogee or an authorized Apogee warranty repair facility will be repaired or replaced at the manufacturer’s option, free of charge.
