ProVerb Problems. Anyone else? **SOLVED**

Post by wheever »

Zo, Installed DP6. And Proverb is having a *few* little problems.

If I try and open it in an old chunk (loaded into a fresh sequence) it takes down DP instantly, as I think Shoosh observed.

But here's this: If I instantiate it in a new fresh sequence, it will come up but not find any IRs. All the presets are there, just no IRs. It says Error=26 and something about not finding impulses. The Proverb .dat file is where it's supposed to be.

I've tried pitching prefs/fixingprivs/etc. To no avail.

I got it to come up once in an empty sequence with the IRs, right after I pitched the prefs, but then never again.

Anyone else?

Macpro 4x2.66/5GB/10.4.9/ Presonus Firestudio. Bone stock, in other words.

Tanks!

Indeed I did, Monkster. :(

If I pitch the prefs I can sometimes get it to load properly in a fresh, blank sequence. Once. Not very useful.

I also can't drag IRs into ProVerb.

Sigh. It's not like my rig is unusual or anything.

I'm starting to think that MOTU needs to hire a few of us as beta-testers...we seem to find ALL the bugs within moments. It's like they have one guy to test and all he does is open the program and close it again. And never tried opening an old file. Sheesh.

It works fine on my system. After install, did you repair permissions?

Uhhh...it's working now. I think I might have overlook the pref file that's not in the DP prefs folder.

You might think after all these years I'd know the dance.

Just for future ref: I threw out EVERY SINGLE PREF except the AU file. (All my other stuff is backed up elsewhere.) And that appears to fix everything, proverb included.

Well, sorry for the false alarms. And thanks for the help, guys.

Ripper wheever!

Repeatability is a good thing, especially where quashing DP issues is concerned. :D

I am experiencing the exact same thing. The preference file you trashed was not in the dp folder but was....where, please?
Thanks in advance,

There's an additional DP file in the main preferences folder called "com.motu.DigitalPerfomer.plist", which doesn't sort by name with the DP prefs folder, which is why I overlooked it before.

What I did was:

1) Set the preferences folder to show by date, then launched DP6, which updated this file, moving it to the top, along with the DP prefs folder.

2) I threw out everything in the DP prefs folder, except the AU cache file, since I'd already rebuilt it once with DP6.

3) I threw out that com.motu.digitalperfomer.plist file.

4) I relaunched DP6, opened a new file, instantiated ProVerb, which appeared as it should.

5) I quit DP6 again, then relaunched one more time and everything was ducky.

HTH and good luck, man!

Thanks Wheever, I've been going crazy for WEEKS trying to get Proverb to work. Your solution fixed everything!!

I got brave, and actually threw out the entire Digital Performer™ folder in the user library preference folder. Took a while to remap all the audio plugins........but worth it

thanks again!
