Just downloaded and installed the latest 828MkII drivers, pleasantly surprised to find the new GUI (just like the screenshots for the Mk3, but without the effects of course). No new funtionality, but some useability changes ... I'll have to figure this out ... silly that MOTU don't have manuals as PDFs to download (why????) so how do they expect users of older hardware to figure out the new GUI? It's not like you can choose to install the old one with the newer drivers.
So far the new drivers seem stable, one crash, but that was probably because I didn't reboot after installing (the installation program doesn't force you to ... just seems to update the existing ones). One tip: save out your settings to a file beforehand (*.CMF) -- the new GUI can import them.
New driver, new GUI for 828 MkII users as well

Re: New driver, new GUI for 828 MkII users as well
CueMix FX for the 828mkII does exactly what the older MOTU CueMix Console did. Additionally, there's a description of every control in the status area at the top right corner of the window when you mouse over the control. There's PDF documentation on the MOTU website here.jsr wrote:Just downloaded and installed the latest 828MkII drivers, pleasantly surprised to find the new GUI (just like the screenshots for the Mk3, but without the effects of course). Excellent! Thank you ... I wasn't able to find it on MOTU's website. The bits that confused me for a while were the balance/width and the stereo/mono switches, and the fact that it was so HUGE on the screen.
I don't use talkback and I think it's a lot of screen space to use for the function (although I'm sure there's a good reason they did this ... like six million other users asking for it or something).
Personally I preferred selecting mixes using the tabs at the bottom, rather than having to select from a drop-down list.
The only thing I really have to criticise is the fact that there is still no way to label channels ... a missed opportunity seeing as a complete re-write of the GUI has taken place.

I prefered the old tabs for mix selection as well. much quicker.

When I look in the Audio Console, I see "driver: 3.6.8.1328", however the download has the same name as the previous one from 15 February 2008. The latest download is timestamped 13 June 2008, if you look at the properties of the file "AudioInstaller.dat" (Digital Signatures).dopepoo wrote:Could you just confirm what version drivers you are running?
