Worse is the color selections. I cannot find one that I like. I'd rather have one that set ALL WAVEFORMS TO BLACK!
I tried using the three different selections and if I have a red background, it makes the waveform gray in one setting. In others, if the track is yellow, the background and the waveform are yellow and you cannot see anything. Also have a problem with purple tracks. Hard to tell what is selected and what is not selected.

THAT is very disconcerting.
I'll tell ya, I've spent a lot of $$$ on DP over the years, but again, if I have to stare at all that white stuff and it ain't Christmas, I may very well stop my DP days and start looking elsewhere.

I just took a look at the CuMix FX app which has a similar UI (don't have DP yet). In the Contents/Resource folder under the app, the UI components are PNG files which are editable. I changed the contrast of one of the background pictures (lowered the contrast) and it shows up fine in the CueMix FX UI. Maybe someone can check DP for the same resource arrangement. If so, some of you graphic artists can take it from there.
I adjusted my color profile on my monitor and got some great results.( for my eyes at least)
I love how DP6 looks now.

Although I don't have DP6 yet, a few weeks away down here
I must say I like the look of the new mixer at least from the screen shots.
I dare when I finally get to use it I may change my mind but at least at this point I like it.

Thanks for that kwiz. That actually looks pretty great to my eyes - it does look much better than some of the other screenshots I have seen. Good to know that it seems like a little tweaking can help things quite a bit.kwiz wrote:I adjusted my color profile on my monitor and got some great results.( for my eyes at least)

I think I am still going to miss the 3D elements of DP5 though, but I suppose we will all get used to it with time.
Incidentally, I went over to digidesign and looked at some of the PT7.4 screen shots.......ugh. PT is definitely grey, and that does help with eye fatigue, but their interface seems so cluttered.....it could be worse.
I think I will hold off loading up DP6 until some of the smaller issues have been worked out with 6.01 (?) - like jumpy knobs in UAD plugs - in the middle of a project right now with some heavy UAD usage, so I can't afford the learning curve just yet. Also, my fingers are crossed for EuCon support in 6.01!!

RA, wasn't the "jumpy knobs in UAD plugs" thing solved by a reboot?
I've a feeling it may have been one of those one-off symptoms that corrects itself after the first instantiation of DP.

Could be, but I thought I saw another instance or two pop up after that in another post....but then i am having trouble keeping pace with all the nuggets of info buried in all the various threads and postsmonkey man wrote:RA, wasn't the "jumpy knobs in UAD plugs" thing solved by a reboot?

Two different mixer window GUIs in DP6 printed manuals
I just posted this in another thread, so sorry for the double post, but it may be more relevant here.
Has anyone noticed that there are two different mixer window GUIs depicted in the manuals that shipped with DP6?
The one on page 65 of the getting started manual shows lines between channels on the mixer window and a cleaner background for the level meters (not the black blue for sure). Also the fader section is not encircled in a rectangle with rounded corners.
The one on page 728 of the User Guide manual shows a mixer window with no lines between channels and the fader section encircled in the rounded corner rectangle. This is how it appears in the version that shipped.
This must have been a last minute decision, or they worked on the getting started manual long ago and forgot to change it.
Personally, I like the version with the lines between the channels...

Re: Two different mixer window GUIs in DP6 printed manuals
The black/blue background for the levels really bugs me. It draws your eyes for no reason. What is it supposed to look like? Like you can see into your mixer and it's dark in there?Mauro wrote:I just posted this in another thread, so sorry for the double post, but it may be more relevant here.

Ha! Same here RA. I did assume that those subsequent posters would've experienced a similar correction upon reboot based on the original complaint.Resonant Alien wrote:Could be, but I thought I saw another instance or two pop up after that in another post....but then i am having trouble keeping pace with all the nuggets of info buried in all the various threads and postsmonkey man wrote:RA, wasn't the "jumpy knobs in UAD plugs" thing solved by a reboot?

I haven't seen further mention of this yet, but as is the case with you, I'm drowning in a tide of mixed-up info.

I got my copy of DP6 yesterday, which was a nice surprise, since I wasn't expecting it until Monday. I was really hoping to disagree with all the reports on the eye strain caused by the white GUI, but I have to admit it immediately forced me to have to adjust the contrast on my monitor, and still seems to burn the eye sockets a bit. I would definitely like to see some options to make the whiter portions more of a softer grey, and to actually lighten the grey horizontal lines in the sequence and MIDI editor windows which are now too distracting on top of a white background.

I posted my initial DP6 findings in a new thread which includes a couple of screen captures comparing GUI windows in DP5 with DP6. You might find it interesting:Matcher wrote:Please post more screenshots from different layouts and windows. Maybe someone could throw in the factory screensets?
