I did a fresh install of panther. Installed MOTU MIDI 1.3.1, DP 4.5 and since 4.5 has to authorized on your machine to install 4.52, which is Panther certified, I had to authorize and then when it tried to finish the launch, 4.5 crashed. No problem, it authorized. Installed 4.52, setup Audio / MIDI and was off to the races. Wow. Significant speed increase in launching a project and in anything screen draw related. Very snappy and responsive and "seems" to be a bit lighter/efficient on the CPU as well, but have not run any VI's yet. Nice. All my external MIDI gear works great. No extensive project work yet, but so far I'm impressed. Maybe MOTU has been working with Tiger development longer than we think? If not, Tiger sure is a snappy upgrade from Apple. I don't think upgrading from 10.3 to 10.4 and expecting all to go well will work. Start fresh, install everything from scratch and definately stay away from any third party utilities and system hacks or that fool with core audio in any way. A clean system usually does the job.

on further investigation i disconnected my mlan network and had no interface at all on my G5 so that took that factor away It still is crashing on play or record This is a totally clean install of Tiger and nothing else except 4.52
Motu and Apple need to sort this one out how the heck can Motu say it has been working closely with Apple when they cant get that simple an install and setup to work.. didnt they try it on a new G5 with a clean install of Tiger and DP with no interface (except the standard Apple soundcard) I mean DOH!

ok, very simple. Got DP 4.52 working with Tiger. Based on the simple directions at the MOTU site.

All I did was:
1. DELETE the MOTU DP 4.5 Folder
2. RE-INSTALL 4.5, then the 4.5.2 update.

No need to re-authorize or anything else, quick and easy.

this is on a dual 2.5, updated from Panther.
