Yes, I'm a bit sceptic to those frequency tailored mics... but compared to the TLM103 it seems a bit more balanced, no? TLM103 just adds alot of top end it seems. I will get a chance to try out a friends 103 soon though. I've only used the U47FET never a 'cheapo' neumann. But considering I've been using a AT4033 (which I kinda like, got some killer vocals with 4033+En-Voice!) in my own studio, the TLM49 should be quite a step up?BradLyons wrote:The TLM49 is a good little mic and DEFINITELY a good combination with the LA610 BUT....it is like the TLM103 in that it was designed to take a great microphone and make a modified, more affordable version of it. But I'll say it again...a MOUSE with the LA610, nice!
Getting an U47, suggestions/advice?

Absolutely.... the AT4033, although inexpensive, is one of those mics that any experienced mic locker should contain. But yeah, we're talking a whole other level here.
Back to the U47 talk, you might want to look into the Lawson 47..... we don't sell them, but it's an excellent mic! A very colleague and friend of mine wrote this review:

The Lawson sure looks interesting. Not sure it's available here though. Gotta try to find that out though...BradLyons wrote: Back to the U47 talk, you might want to look into the Lawson 47..... we don't sell them, but it's an excellent mic! l

But it's NOT a "Telefunken" just because the name says it is....chrispick wrote:Yeah, but it makes it affordable.BradLyons wrote:An original Telefunken, sure.....one today? Well, just purchasing the name doesn't make it the original.
I'm just throwing the OP two more suggestions. I can't personally vouch for either of them. I've read favorable user reviews though.
