I would love to hear anything about the CD burning capabilities of DP6. I may end up liking some of the improvements, but CD mastering is the only new feature I'm really on the edge of my seat for. If it can handle my workflow, I can finally ditch Waveburner running on OS9 on the G4 sitting in the corner. I don't see much interest in this feature and am a bit surprised as the options for OSX are precious and few. Maybe I just have Special Needs

I know I keep saying this, but I sure do hope you choose to stick with the unicorn (in the name).
Apple knows animal names are cool, and it's a world leader in marketing.
We've the only DAW that's in any way associated with a critter, and what a critter it is.

Ever hear of Dragon Burn (it's a burning app I think)?
The only reason I remember the name after having seen it written once is because it was a critter.
Same thing applies to the Zebra softsynth.

Just thought I'd mention this stuff in an effort to add more weight to the "retain the unicorn" argument.

I'm afraid I don't have any projects that use that many VIs to judge that...
But now I'm in the studio and got it installed so I'd be happy to try to answer any other questions...

One initial observation: UAD plug-in controls behave erratic. If you click-hold-drag the controls they jump all over the place. Wasn't this the situation a couple of versions ago? You have to click once on the position you want them to go to. Very irritating!

Recorded some quick bass and tried to compare the new MW Leveler to UADs LA-2A. MW Leveler seemed a bit brighter. Other than that it seemed to hold up fine. Gonna try some more on better source material later...

Weird... I'm having that exact problem with BFD instantiated on 5.13. It makes DP's send and pan knobs go crazy- and certain other VI knobs like Soundtoys as well.

Hey Goosester, it's not MOTU I'm worried about, although it has toned down the unicorn status in its logos somewhat these past few years.

Rather, it's James' considering dumping the UnicorNation name in favour of MotuNation that gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Please, *not* Soundtoys. They barely pass AU validation in v5.1.3.

Edit: I lost my head for a minute. Perhaps it will be fixed in transit.

Interesting - I've been getting erratic behaviour with Soundtoys knobs too, acting a bit like the CPU is totally maxed out but when it is clearly not - but only had this since moving house and studio. I'm still on DP 5.13 and 10.4.11 / 10.5.4 ..... no probs with BFD so far (used it very little just of late).

Has anyone forum'd or emailed (and got a response) either FXpansion, MOTU or Soundtoys about this?

- The good thing about moving studio is every bit of old hard/software feels new again (sort of) .... DP6 will be the icing on the cake now - perfect timing

I'm over the heebies but am occasionally broadsided by a jeebie.

ALSO, that UAD-1 thing would suck if it were a lingering problem. But from experience UA usually does an update and then everyone's happy again. We've had some of those glitches before. But I guess it does speak to the immediate usefulness of the new version when the big money files are open on the desktop.
