Maybe I am missing something entirely but I just got my 8pre in the mail and when I plug in the power no lights turn on. That button on the right side - is that the power switch? Its not documented anywhere it seems... just a magical button without mention.

Anyways, are any lights supposed to come on when its on? I have tried plugging a mic in and producing sound to get some reaction on the levels... I've tried every variation of buttons possible and no lights change.

Is there a way to reset this thing somehow? Its second hand, but apparently was in working mint condition. Maybe I've been ripped off and sold a shell - I don't know.

Any advice would be really helpful as neither motu support or the guy who sold me are responding to my calls for help :(

That button on the right is indeed the power switch. Did you get a disc of drivers with it? You would need to install those before your computer will recognize the 8Pre.

I installed the disc before considering it wasn't working. Then I figured I needed the driver update before it would work on my leopard.

The software says there is no device. I tried alternative firewire cables... alternative power cables. Nothing.

Is it considered to be 'on' when the power switch is pressed in at the top or the bottom? The pictures appear to be on when its pressed at the top.

I just assumed I would hear a noise or at least a subtle vibration when its on... or some light feedback on the device.

Also I thought the device works standalone without a computer connected?

I am in Australia where I'm assuming I would use the 230v option. I didn't realise there was a switch and plugged it in while it was still at 115v. Could that have blown the power supply?

Thanks for that.

As it turns out it did infact blow the power and all I needed to do was switch the glass fuse on the inside.

It's alive!!!!!
