On the surface, it's almost worth paying $400 for a G5 2.2G just to see what it can do.
Ah, but it seems many are also missing that it is NOT a G5 but an Intel box
MacRumors website wrote: A company called Psystar has started advertising a $399 computer called "OpenMac" which claims to be a Leopard compatible Mac built from standard PC-parts. For $399, you get a tower computer with the following specs:

- 2.2GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
- 2GB of DDR2 667 memory
- Integrated Intel GMA 950 Graphics
- 20x DVD+/-R Drive
- 4 USB Ports
- 250GB 7200RPM Drive
However, I don't see how they could challenge Apple regarding their own software.
Yea this is an intel box and the mb is going to support a max of 8g ram... dont do it!

Anyone tried this yet with DP?

I have a friend that started using it with Final Cut and has had "no issues". He says that since the machine is under his desk anyway, he doesn't even remember it's not an Apple until someone brings it up.

I might get one just to play with.

My slapintosh runs DP 5 w/10.4 like a champ. I built it for less than $300 although I already some of the parts. (look closely at my avatar)
