8pre very quiet in Sonar 7...

I just bought a mic (Shure 57) and this was the first time for me recording without going direct in.

Months ago when I recorded with my POD xt pro and went straight in, I didn't have any problems (volume wise) it just sounded like ••••. So, I havn't changed any settings on the 8pre or in Sonar, went to record today and couldn't hear anything. Took me awhile to figure out why...then I realized when I completely CRANK the volume on my mic 1 input, it actually picks up the sound, but it's way too quiet for the volume being cranked. How can I fix this?

The amp was plenty loud and it sounds fantastic....just way too quiet.


Any ideas?
