CueMix FX Problem

Post by Yorke »

I bought an 828 MK3 a week ago, the first problem I encountered was the backlight for the display went out, that was 2 days after I bought it.

I took that one back, and the new one worked fine, my main issues were limited to my in-experience with the interface, I will also mention I am using it along with an 8pre.

Last night I was trying to get both units synch'd up and the cuemix fx interface would not come up, it game me " An Undefinable error has occured".

Now after about 20 reinstalls, including several with the help of tech support, I am no closer to getting this thing resolved than I was last night.

Their ( tech support) first answere was " you don't have a TI chipset firewire adaptor", so I buy that still no fix for the problem. I will say I have done complete re-installs including wiping it from the registry, but it does seem to have some files some where that i cannot find, that does not uninstall.

All the cuemix fx work on the 828 itself, its just that the interface will not come up, so I am thinking its a software issues. They also told me to download the driver off of their website, that didn't work either, I am not sure what to do.

I just wish the damn thing would work properly, if anyone has an idea of what it is that I am doing wrong, by all means speak up. Sorry about the mispelling I have been up for a while trying to resolve this.

I had loads of problem setting it up too. I hade the mk2 installed before and after I had wiped it out (partly manually using regedit, deleting files etc) and performed a factory reset on the mk3 it worked.

However, I still can't select the samplerate from within cubase as I used too. I have loads of small issues - the testing of this device must have been minimal.

Well Guitar Center is going to let me exchange my 828 again, really irritating I tried everything possible to get it to work. I went into regedit and deleted files that way too, I am gonna try another 828, my thinking is the dsp is working but not communicating with the software of cuemix fx, which would maybe explain why its an " Undefinable Error".

On a brighter note, I was able to get 828 and my 8pre to record drums last night into cubase 4, sounded really good so that is the only thing that has kept me balanced through the whole delemna.

Newer isn't always better.

My only suggestion is to try downgrading from Cuemix FX to the older Cuemix. A lot of people seem to have problems with newer drivers, firmware and software, and I want to see plenty of success stories before I "upgrade" my MOTU software.
Especially since there's never any release notes explaining why I might want to go to a newer version number.

What needed to be replaced, the FireWire ports, the interface, or a sensitive part of your anatomy?

The 828mk3 only works with CueMix FX. It will not work with the older MOTU CueMix Console.

Have you tried a complete re-install of the OS?
