would you buy this G5 Quad ? $699

hi all: i went to GC today(July 4th list sale)they have a G5 Quad for $699,I put $100 down to hold it.

my questions: the Mac shows as sold and returned to GC 5/2008 it was returned as not working,if i take it and there is still a warranty on it and it indeed does not work will Apple fix it? would I get better results if I purchase Apple care with it?if I still can...............
I attempted to call Apple to see if the Mac still shows a warranty ,Apple care or a registration of the Mac but they are closed.

without knowing if its a power supply issue or a motherboard issue it's hard to know how much this could cost to get up and running without a warranty.
this seems like an amazing deal if it's still in warranty.
any ideas or suggestions are appreciated.

well,i just ran the serial # on the Apple site and it's out of warranty,so i'm going to pass it up.
if it had been still under warranty i would have grabbed it.
a functioning quad loaded w/ 8 gigs of ram would be a very capable machine.

Surprising that GC didn't offer a warranty unless it is on consignment.

BTW, pay with an AMEX card and you warranty is doubled up to one year!
