MP3 Plugin for DP 4.61

Post by nor »

Hi—

I'm still using DP 4.61. Does anyone know where I can get the plugin for exporting MP3s?

Thanks,

nor

A google of

"Lame Framework"

gave me:

http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/20814
http://mac.softpedia.com/get/Developer- ... work.shtml
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/23898

Instructions at MOTU here:

http://www.motu.com/techsupport/technotes/DP-MP3Export
How do I Bounce or Export my DP file as an MP3?
Digital Performer 4.5 introduces the ability to directly Bounce to Disk or Export Soundbites as an MP3.

To enabled this, you need to have the LAME.framework installed on your system. The LAME.framework is not included with DP. It is open source software that can be downloaded free of charge. Try searching Google or VersionTracker for "LAME Framework" to download it. Follow the instructions that are included with it to install.

The LAME.framework should be placed in /Library/Frameworks.

If you do not see LAME Audio Export: MP3 as a choice when you Bounce to Disk or Export Selected bites, the LAME.framework is not installed, or it is installed in the Library of another user. Relocate the LAME.framework to the global /Libary/Frameworks folder.

+1

Not only the best sounding mp3s, but the variable bit rate can make very small files from spoken word source (so I can put them on my iPod without filling it up and listen to lengthy novels while driving to LA). :D

Also, consider bouncing everything from DP as AIFF or WAVE, and using iTunes L.A.M.E program/plug to convert all MP3s there. Same quality MP3 conversion, selectable and customizable, and you can keep AIFF-quality bounces as well.

Simply make a playlist in iTunes and keep that ont he screen, launch the L.A.M.E. plug/program, and it automatically converts and creates a new "converted" playlist.

Awesome.
