828MK3 Update Hangs Windows XP

Greetings,
I was eagerly awaiting the update to v1.06 for the 828MK3, only to discover the Firewire drivers are highly unstable. I have tried to follow instructions posted here by,
(1) Uninstalling the MOTU Audio Driver
(2) Installing the FireWire/USB Drivers [Note: there is a new version posted on 6/30/2008]

Next, I start my MOTU 828MK3 as I normally would, and the Hardware Detection Wizard for Windows starts. At that point the drivers begin to load. On the last driver, MOTU Audio Wave the system hangs when attempting to load the file, 'mfwave.sys' ... the system needs to be powered down and back up to recover. Hard Reset. At that point Windows XP is completely unstable, no programs will launch. Am not able to even run the v1.06 update at that point.

Only solution is to un-install the faulty drivers. For 3 days now I've been without the interface. Is anyone else having similar issues?

Hey yeap i'll second that !
I recently and painfully regreted installing the latest 828MKIII driver for XP SP2
It fully corrupted my native instruments plugins especially Kore !
it freezes and also takes ages to shut down, something buggy there.

i cant get thru the install mine gets stuck at gsif driver and gives a cyclic redundancy error, motu tech support have yet to respond after 4 days
i have tried to roll back the driver many times unsucsefully, i can run the old asio drivers still tho MIDI and all other drivers are ••••ed
