Is it possible to copy mix settings

Post by GOATZILLA »

Hi all,
I'm a long time DP user and oddly enough for the first time I find myself wanting to copy my mix settings from one project to another. I figure I could save my mix as a template and then consolidate the other other projects and import them into the template but I'm thinking there has to be an easier way.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Clippings are your friends! This is great if you want to keep the same track layout. Is that what you want? Sort of like a template, with all the plug-ins settings, volume/pan settings, bussing, etc.

IOW, create your templates, make them a clipping, and whatever you saved there, will be available everytime by a simple drag and drop.

Be careful, though. They are addictive :P

Check the manual for details and further info. It's all in there.

Do Clippings still have a two insert per channel maximum?

Thanks.

I don't think so...
Actually, I was not even aware of this. What version of DP are you referring to?

I use 5.11. Seems to me the last time I used clippings I had four plug-ins on a few channels and only two inserts were recognized. I was wondering if 5.13 took care of that. But what I'm really waiting to find out is if 6 (which I've pre ordered) takes care of that.

But it could be I'm just remembering wrong, though I remember being quite disappointed. I'll check it out again when I get the chance.

Thanks

Hmmmm. I still use DP 4.61, and I've never encountered this situation... Perhaps something else went wrong?

Having said that, one thing I would certainly like to see fixed is that clippings only carry the take that was made a clipping. IOW, only 1 take makes it there. I wish they fix this, so we can access all the takes from within clippings.

When I want to use the same mix settings between different projects, I will use the LOAD command and basically import the sequence I want to copy the mix from - import all settings but w/o the soundbites.

At this point if the instrumentation is similar I just cut and paste into that mix...

Seems to work fairly well for us!

Thanks,
B

I remember using Pluggo in combination with DP 2.72's plugs on OS 9.2.2 to make some radical noises.
I used up to 5 inserts at a time and stored all presets as clippings, no problem.

Maybe it was the Sends that max out at two. Something maxes out with Clippings, because I remember thinking, "Man, that's a drag."

I'm on the road so I can't check it out. Not that important and sorry for sticking my nose into this thread.

Thanks for the replies.

Hey wurliuchi, you did nothing wrong man. :D

As you said, there must've been a limit somewhere or else you wouldn't have thought that.

Cheers mate.
