folder w/questionmark on startup...
Heya - I think the internal drive of my Black MacBook 2g isn't spinning up,and I'm getting a folder with a questionmark on the screen during startup...
am I screwed? Do I need to get a new internal drive? Can the data on the drive be saved?
I hear little rhythmic clicking with the drive after I see this....
TIA
Cory

Thanks Frodo for the reply.
*sigh!* this didn't seem to work... even the OSX install disk (when booted from the CD) doesn't see the drive in the list...
I think it's toast...
I hear 4 little clicks from the drive and then nothing...
Does anyone know what kind of internal drive a Black MacBook 2gig duo uses?
SATA? or just ATA?

that sounds a lot like a dead drive, just guessing since I obviously can't hear it.RCory wrote:Thanks Frodo for the reply.

Can you start up in Target Mode and run a disk utility from another machine?

If you startup in Target Mode, can you run Disk Warrior on the host machine and mount the drive for possible repairs?RCory wrote:The computer itself will go into target mode, but the drive doesn't mount onto the other computer -
I think it's dead..unless anyone else has any other ideas...
