WinXP SP3 and ORIGINAL Motu 828

Post by sippyjuice »

I am tweaking a friend's computer while he is on tour and is it just me or does WINXP SP3 not work with an original Motu 828 interface? I installed the software, that I downloaded from motu.com, rebooted, connected the 828 and as it begins to associate the drivers, the computer locks up, beyond salvation, I have to turn the pig off at the switch. I also installed a fresh copy of XP without updating it. I tried to install the motu drivers and again locked up in the same place. The screen with the progress meter, and the papers flying out of the folder across the screen, freezes up.

Its an older system but since it is used strictly for recording, why change it

Anyone got any answers?

I just went through exactly the same thing with a 828 mk1 and Winxp. The current Motu driver from their website will NOT work.

What you need is driver 3.6.7.3. Further you need the file mfwaasio.drv which is extracted from the installer.msi file.

Without going into a long explanation see this thread at the Reaper site.

This info will get you on your way to a functional unit.

If you PM me i can get you further and specific instructions

I surely understand how maddening this could be

cheers
