The few times I was in Australia I did my best to get to know as many dark Aussie beers as possible. I found Toohey's Old to be quite nice. Sheaf Stout was good too. Although they won't replace Guinness for me though!

I've noticed that bugs will go for a light crisp lager everytime, but won't go near a Guinness. I prefer to interpret that as "only bugs will drink light beers". Whereas others prefer to tell me that "even bugs are smart enough not to drink Guinness" :)

You know Nicky,
I hope there'll come a day when I get off a plane in Melbourne and come to visit you - I know you can't have a beer, but is a banana daiquiri out of the question? :D

LOL! Too funny man.

Dave, I'm touched man; seems everything about you is big, including your heart.

Banana daiquiri? It's likely I'd be so overwhelmed by the visit all rules would be thrown out of the window. :D
FWIW, this year's been the worst so far - only one visitor... in February!

My advice to all is that if you fall ill, be sure to heal up quickly lest you end up like the Monkster.

Ok,
it's a date, or a fig, or some other kind of dried fruit... or whatever
The deal is: as soon as I can get a day or two I'll jump a plane and ruin your health with the influence of my chidish, self destructive habits... or you can just watch... or whatever. Just promise you won't tell anyone just how disgusting i am, OK?

Yup, and porridge and breakfast cereal is what happens to grains if we don't make beer or vodka. :D
