The invoices from the early summer gigs are rolling in. Today I got my Adam A7 pair to the door and they are wonderful!

Big hugs to BradLyons, monkey man, MIDI Life Crisis and the others who encouraged me to get on this train!

Thanks for the tip. But I need to get some more mics and a new screen so I can ditch my 7 year old 15' PC screen.

By the way, is it possible to use the built in audio lineout (input rca on the adams) while at the same time recording with my RME FF? Without having to switch between the FF and the built in audio in the hardware draw box and the bundles window all the time.

I know I should connect the Adams though the FF but it just makes so much cables all over.

Get yourself a Central Station, go digital out of the MacPRo into the Central Station...and analog out of the FF, then you can get even better quality out of the Mac and have the ability to pick and choose WHICH source you wish to use without switching cables.

They sound great! Very clear in the highs. Some of my old mixes sound crap and some of them sound ok.

All of them wher mixed with my old stereo as some of you know

They are absolutely great. Right now I'm listening to System of a Down on extremely low volume and I can hear exactly everything they do!

My Adams are now connected via the Mac Pro speaker output. (3.5-jack to RCA in the Adams).

I guess it would be better to connect the stright from the RME Fireface? Which would be 6.3-jacks to XLRs? or RCAs?

What do you Adam A7-users use? Which cable-brands are preferrable?

I can't speak directly to the Adams situation, but in my experience, most mid-to-high end active monitors these days do not care what type of cable they receive, in terms of assumed impedances and levels -- except maybe for the fairly usual split of line level for everything except XLR's (but even that isn't a hard and fast rule). The manual should list the expected impedances at each terminus, and what levels should be delivered at the other end of that cable, for ideal matching.

Brand-wise, anything that you trust in the studio. For active monitors, you're just dealing with normal patch cables, not speaker cables or special-purpose (but visually identical to mic cables) digital ADAT cables, e.g.

I have my KRK's connected with several sources, making use of RCA, XLR, and 1/4" cables. I don't need a line switcher at the moment, as a result (a speaker switcher is another matter entirely...). The manuals I have looked through for most equivalent mid-to-high end monitors indicates that the majority of these models/brands support multiple simultaneous connections (unlike most low-end gear, where connecting the "preferred" jack may disable the others).

Yes, you can use multiple Core Audio in DP. Click 'hardware' then in the list you Command-Click all the drivers you want available in DP...

Not quite sure why you wanna do this though? What are you trying to achieve (not familiar with FF400)

I'm not quite sure either to be honest

I was trying to get around not having to switch the outputs in the bundles and all the tracks everytime I switch between the built in audio and my external FF.
