From DP to OMF to ProTools.. Multiple takes to Playlists
Ok, so I have 6 songs I need to Port over to ProTools TONIGHT. I have DigiTranslator 2.0 and every thing is working fine EXPECT: While DP does export the multiple take audio files, Take 1, Take 2 etc., on the same audio track, when ProTools reads the OMF file, it only sees the top most audio file, or selected take when DP saved the OMF file. ProTools upon opening the OMF file does not create separate play lists for the other takes on that track. Yet the other take files are in the ProTools Audio folder. Has any one experience this and know a work around? I am in DP 5.13, ProTools LE 7.4

Could you save as an AAF in DP and open that in PT? Just thinking out load...

Hmmmm. If I Load a chunk that I KNOW has many takes in the tracks, DP will only give me the one that was active when I saved the project. Not one more. Same with clippings. This annoys me a lot, but have become used to it. Is it normal?
Could it be in ADDITION to what Mr Clifford says? (That's the way the OMF protocol works AND DP has some kind of issue with reporting takes?)

Thanks for the comments. After reading your posts, and doing some more research it seems that the OMF protocol only supports one active take or playlist per track. The AAF option doesn't support this either. It sure would be a great feature to implement in an upgrade to digitranslator as DP does support the exporting of the multiple takes. My enthusiasm for spending $500 on Digitranslator has just diminished exceedingly.
Probably one can do the omf transfer, then make omf files of each different layer of DP's takes and use Pro Tools session data import function to bring in the additional takes (look for the right option to not replace the takes of the first import). Kind of tedious if there are a lot of takes. Hmmm, how might this work with the new DP feature of making takes go to seperate tracks- will they be seperately exported in OMF? If so you could use import session data more efficiently, or just keep each take on a seperate track- probably de activate and hide extra's in PT except when they are needed.
