Great River MP-500NV
Anyone currently using any Great River Stuff.....
I have an API 500 Lunch box that I got from a friend... Now I want to start filling it up.....
I currently run either my Sytek preamps, or my dual channel Sebatron Tube preamp through a BLA modded 828mkii, plus a Distressor. I recently purchased a duet for portable stuff and an pretty please with it. (I recorded my school's baby grand with the Duet and a pair of Avenson Audio STO omni mics... pretty great sound)..... my mics are mostly a U195, C414, and SM7B.
I don't do too much multi-tracking anymore... usually the drums are recorded somewhere else and I will do all the rest of the tracking, one sometime two inputs at a time....
I am considering selling some gear to get a top notch preamp. The Great river always seems to get rave reviews....
I am also looking at the Chandler Germainum, the A Design P1, and Purple Audio Biz.
I want flexiblity between acoustic instrument, guitar, and voice. I hear the Great River isn't always everyones first choice, but it doesn't suck on anything.....
Anyway, thanks for the feedback

I have been looking at going with a lunch box setup and everything I hear about GR preamps is very positive.I decided against the lunch box for now, frankly I rarely record more than 1 or maybe 2 channels at a time and the lunch box concept would be overkill for me not to mention the $$$ to keep filling up slots.
i'm ordering in 2 or 3 weeks the Chandler LTD 1(mostly vocals ,some guitars)
the Germanium looks cool and I might add it later but for me it seems like the LTD1 will suit me more for every day use.the entire line of Chandler products are amazing and Wade is one the nicest guy's I have ever encountered. He is hands on ,answers all my inane questions and he really cares about what he is doing ,he is not just selling a box.

Millennia HV-3C. Yes... I know... CLEAN. But it sounds wonderful and if you want color you can add that.

YOu really should check out LaChapell Audio:
http://www.lachapellaudio.com/
They have the 583 which is a lunchbox model and is very similar to their flagship 992. The 992 just got reviewed by TapeOp and the called it a instant classic, really a great review. I have the 992 EG and there is simply nothing like it. Scott also listens to his users and will personally answer questions that you have. It is really worth the check out.

MacPro 3.0, 5GB RAM, DP 5.12, BLA modded MOTU Traveler, Rosetta 800, Muse Receptor, UAD-1e, Kore, Komplete 4, Cakewalk Dim Pro, and then some. LaChapell Audio 992 EG (Brimar and Mullard custom tubes), True P2Analog, Sytek MP4A, Adam A7s, MacBook Pro for mobile

It's for that very reason I got an A-Designs Pacifica (the P1 is its 500-style equivalent). Haven't regretted it for a second.builder wrote:I want flexiblity between acoustic instrument, guitar, and voice.
My U195 sounds tremendous through it.
That said, I've heard rock guitars tracked through a Great River and they sounded great.
