Don't forget having Takes "auto explode" option to separate tracks for comping OR to be viewable as a group with their own timeline- sort of a secondary sequence window but only of takes within a single track.
Eventually we may even get to folder tracks- a feature is liked about Cubase.

Re: DP6.0 (A view of the future)? Just for fun...
1) My biggest wish is that they finally catch up with Cubase, by allowing instrument plugin patch names to be displayed and chosen WITHOUT opening the plugin itself in the track list etc.
In so many cases the combination of virtual instrument name + patch name would be enough to distinguish a track from another - removing the ridiculous and time consuming need to manually name every track.
2) they need to bundle Mach5 and at least one other multi-purpose synth alonw with a full sample set. This is firstly because Logic now comes fully loaded with instruments.
By allowing users to stay within VIs designed for and bundled with DP, MOTU also can ensure that a least THEIR instruments work fine.
In addition DP is used heavily for film work. by integrating a sampler and sound set that is optimised for orchestral arrangements they would win a lot of customers. They would have to have special "intelligent" instruments ala GIGA to handle phrasing etc.
For MOTU to simplify and make reliable the work of building an "orchestra" would be a differentiator too in the market.
3) GarageBand I am convinced is going to have a MAJOR effect on the DAW/sequencer landscape. One thing I predict is that DP will have to incorporate enough synth power and sound sets to be able to read in and play back GB tracks. it could be that GB emerges as some kind of new "general MIDI" style of standard.
4) DP needs to redraw windows etc as fast as Logic.
to the guys wanting DP to go multi platform/ XP etc.
NO NO NO NO NO !!!!!!
by staying Mac only MOTU get to maximise their development resources to one platform - making it mire stable. And not having to worry about technical aspects of cross platform issues is a great boon. it means they can instead concentrate on fixing mire bugs and adding more useful features.

DP thinks their stuff is so damn amazing that external ssl channel strips , lexicon reverbs and other "old stuff" is no longer needed compared to their EEEEEEEE VERB..lol
It is clear that there is either a lack of foresight or a pomposity on the part of MOTU and any other software maker whom exludes the long established history or GREAT recording equipment..in the design of their products...
Let's get it together MOTU boys..wake up..analogue is knocking...
it's not an either or world..there is room for every one...

Just found a work around...
Set all your tracks on ONE bus..put Bussy on it, delay the band to compensate for the in out delay to your external device..
I am running "BUFFY" at +15 at 1024 buffer, going in and out of an 828 into an external compressor

Creativity, some digital stuff and analogue things that go boom. crackle, bits of wood with strings on them that go twang
