A Library/UAD 1 question

Post by guitron45 »

I would like to delete all the unbidden stuff Universal Audio added to my plugins list. It takes twice as long to find anything in the clutter. If I delete these from the library/audio/plugins/components folder will there be any negetive impact? I'm a little new to poking around in OS X stuff.

Go here:

<Boot HD>/Library/Audio/Plug-ins

Inside the Plug-ins folder create a new folder and name it Components (Disabled). Then go into the Components folder and drag all the UAD-1 plug-ins you don't wish to see in the menu into your newly-created folder. (You can create these Disabled folders for MAS and VST as well if you wish).

You can trash the unused UAD-1 stuff instead if you prefer but you won't be saving that much disk space and if you suddenly changed your mind and needed to demo any of them you'd have to reinstall the whole shebang again from scratch.

Kind regards.

Geez Dave two in a row. And again, thank you for the help. This sounds like a smarter way to do it.

I realize that this is an old post...but just a head's up. In recent releases from UA, some pluggins apparently share code. For example, the Precision Bus Compressor requires the Precision Limiter to be present (even if the Precision Limiter is not authorized). So don't trash anything until you test it.

Use AudioUnit Manager, so you can select what AU gets loaded.
