Switching from logic

Post by samueltournan »

Hi! I'm a Logic Pro user since version 6, but lately lack of updates from Apple has got me thinking about switching to DP. Latest versions of Logic have a problem with some multi-CPU Macs (one CPU has its performance bar around 90% while the other ones are on holidays at 5 or 10 %. This issue is really boring: i can't work with plugins I used to in logic 7).

Does DP have this kind of issues? What are DP's main flaws? (I tried to work with it once or twice and I admit the MIDI editor was not as easy as Cubase's or Logic's one)

No DP does not that I know of. Some people have had CPU spikes, I do when I run a few to many VI's but my computer is old and needs to be replaced. If you read here you will see the issues some have, not every one has the same issues. There are a number of posts about plug-ins but I feel that is as much a plug in problem as any thing. A number of people cry about Waves. I like the easy to use interface so I have stayed with it, started a 2.6.

okay, thanks. What do you mean by "my computer is old"? Is it a G5? A G4?

Some of us have unexpected crash issues. But I think most the crash problems are gone since v 5.13.

The MIDI editor takes a little while to learn (actually everything in DP takes a while to learn even if you've been working with other DAWs for years), but it's really great once you get the hang of it. Any kind of microscopic tweaking I've ever come to think of is there somewhere.

Hello!
Just to let you know that the Multi-cpu problem is not a LOGIC or DP problem but is an INTEL software problem .
Even NUENDO on a PC has this problem .
I am using a 8 cores new mac and LOGIC 8 and I cannot complain about that .

I am very please with it .

I know both DP 5.13 and LOGIC 8
