I'm using a PC with Windows XP SP3 on it.
I looked on Newegg and there are alot of them.
I have a motherboard with a TI 1394b on it.
The stock drivers in Windows XP wont work right

These are what I recommend to my clients, they are known-working and compatible cards with ALL audio interfaces I've encountered:

First, don't use stock drivers, download dedicated drivers for the TI card.
If that doesn't work, try *any* other card with your MOTU device to see if it would work. IMO, MOTU is exaggerating the firewire card problem, more often than not it's their device that's out of order, rather than firewire chip.
The only other problem could be the 'b' version of the firewire, you should try 'a' version also.

I found some new info last night
I found out that Windows SP2 messes up some firwire drivers.
There are two fixes that Microsoft has for the problem.
I can't download these fixes due to a validation issue.
They are numbered KB885222 and KB904412 .
Does anyone have these files that I can get a copy of?

I use this one from SIIG:

Has a TI chipset and works like a charm.

I haven't installed SP3 yet so I can't verify firsthand, but that's what MS says....

SP3 theoretically has the firewire "fix" included. See list of fixes here:I have the updates and they wont install because I hve sP3 installed.
