to ALL the DP AND Logic users here in this forum ... which app do you like/use/prefer best?

I have recently bought Logic 8 and installed it (havent worked with it yet) and wondering if I should take the time to dig into the app.
Logic is a great app. You'd be well advised to learn how to use it, if for no other reason, to increase the flexibility of your studio. Because it's an Apple product, Logic in many ways is becoming a standard. However, after using Logic as my main DAW for about a year (L7. Don't have L8 yet) I decided I'm much more productive as a composer, and as a recording engineer in DP. This despite DP's far slower interface/horrendous cpu efficiency. If DP6 manages to become as efficient as Logic or even provides "dramatically improved cpu efficiency" w VIs as the demo video states, I doubt I'll bother to start a project w Logic again.

What puts Logic apart from any DAW I know of is the Environment. It's worth learning alone, all the rest is pretty much the same as in other DAWs with its own quirks of course. The Environment is a MIDI routing workshop. You can convert almost any MIDI message to any MIDI message, like notes to CC, or PC to SysEx, or CC to CC. You can switch your instruments on the fly from a single track using any MIDI command. You can record multiple automation parameters with different ranges and direction from a single fader. MIDI Transformation object is another thing worth learning, and combined with the Environment its possibilities are almost limitless.
I wonder if DP6 brings some of that functionality...

Isnt it nice for MOTU that they have the power entirely in their hands to beat out Logic....and keep DP as the standard behind Pro Tools...

It really is up to MOTU...
If they're smart, they go for it and actually do side by side comparisons boasting about kicking Logics ass

If I could afford the entire waves bundle, plus the entire NI bundle, and a total of three 8-core machines (with audio interfaces, etc.), then DP would probably be my main sequencer because I like the basic 'flow' of the application. I especially like DP's take functionality (even before the upgrade) and the MIDI plug-in concept. But since I can't afford all the above, Logic 8's built in plugs and CPU friendliness have me using Logic 90% of the time.

DP v6 is getting a bit closer with the included plug-ins. There's still a ways to go to catch up to the Logic plug-ins though.
