You'll probably agree with me that it is quite difficult to get yourself a name so, in my view, I'd rather leave it unchanged. Even if in Spanish "cornada" means getting caught by the bull

I see that you've already registered all those names (with re-direct), James.

Are you guys really passionate about this topic? I voted, but honestly I figure that so long as James, the man who has to really deal with the site, digs the name and design, it's cool by me. It can be called "Peanut Cheese" and I'll settle.

Now why would a burgeoning industry leading corporation want to distance themselves from this?

Oh, it's tempting to "let it be," but I'm kind of in agreement with James that maybe we should move on. Perhaps it could be like this:

MOTUNation
the site formerly known as UnicorNation

Whatever James decides, it's fun to talk about it. And I don't mind whether it remains the same or if the name changes. It will be a little easier to explain to others if we change the name. If we don't change the name, then it will certainly retain its name recognition factor. MOTUNation is probably the best compromise between those two, retaining a bit of name recognition while losing the association with mythological creatures that some manly engineers may find embarrassing.

Whatever James chooses, I vote for leaving some graphical representation of the unicorn up at the top of the site. Just a preference. My first piece of music software from MOTU was Professional Composer, and it had a unicorn on it. I've rather liked the symbol ever since. It has a classy look to it, even if it may appear dated (or effeminate) to some. So... either way, makes no real difference to me. It's the folks here who make this place what it is, not a name or a symbol.

My vote is for keeping the name but I'm easy, whatever people want to call it it's cool with me! .... however a new skin redesign, new colours etc would be very welcome but only if someone was interested in doing it - this is not a feature request! :)

Oh well, while I'm here ....

Or for a truly modern 're-imagineering' style cheesy rebranding how about calling it simply:

enable

think off white backgrounds and pastel colours and peppered with quotes like 'I'm realizing my true potential thanks to DP!' with stock photos of good looking men and women all looking like this :D or this :D or this :D
content is the new style

Perhaps we can change the name of the COMPANY to DAWNation? Sometimes I call it DAMNation!

IMHO, Unicornation describes this place the best of the alternatives. As long as this site is not hosted or moderated by MOTU, and there's a lot of conversation about non-MOTU related topics, I see no reason to include the company's name in the domain.

Just my 2c.

A skin redesign as well as move to phpBB 3.0 is part of the plan.

I just had a tea with a lot of sugar. Personally, I'm nostalgic and probably wouldn't want to change the name of my country, either. But if change must come, then let me throw in a few alternatives to make you either love your own choices more, or reconsider them. (Hint: they're not all Sirrius)
