I don't know about your drive issue, but I just replaced the internal samples/projects hard drive in my computer. The only way that I could get the OS to recognize all my aliases (of which there are many) was to rename the new drive with the same name as the old one. Just something you might want to check out when you get the drive recognized.wylie1 wrote:Also I put the old drives in the second internal bay but Leopard doesn't see them I'm assuming this is an issue with the jumpers on the drives.
BFD 2...What's the performance like?

Hey Folks,
I have my credit card in hand to order BFD2 but noticed that they've switched to a computer ID authorization method. I have no problem with that but am worried about the number of authorizations available for BFD2. I tend to reinstall system software more than the average Joe. Is there a definite number of authorizations per purchase?
What if I purchase a new computer next year? How will this affect my situation?
I can't tell you people how grateful I am for your input, opinions, suggestions, etc.

I'm not sure how that works but when i just did a clean install there was no issue.
You have to login into their site in order to register weather or not they pull a mac address from your machine I don't know.
I can tell you their support has been good to me.
BFD2 got lost in mail when I contacted them a new was sent out the next day.
I just got a message from Drew at fxpansion he tells me they did create a template for DP5.13 and BFD2.
He said he'll try and get it to me tomorrow when hes back at the office.
I'll post it when I get it.

Re: BFD 2...What's the performance like?
I just got my PlugSoundPro VI today, and I am quite impressed. There are some TERRIFIC Jazz kits in there and they sound very believable. Great room sounds, fantastic brushes and other kit pieces. Quite a variety of different kits too. This may be my go-to VI when I am fooling around with Jazz compositions. Hardly touches the CPU, and is very inexpensive!FMiguelez wrote:I am looking for killer sounds, realistic sounds, easy to use, and the option to buy drum sounds played with brushes (for Jazzy stuff).
Just thought I'd mention it, since BFD2 does not cover Jazz kits with its base set.

I'll check it out. Thanks for the info, Zed.
Cheers.

Heres a reply I got from fxpansion haven't tried it yet I've been distracted
every time I open BFD2 I lose a few hours just playing around.
Qute:
1. First you need to load BFD2 in as a instrument; check the menu - project>add track>instrument track>BFD2 (stereo).
2. Then you need to go to the bundles window: Studio>Bundles. Go to the instruments tab. At the bottom is a button labelled add.
3. Use add, and add in a few bundle outputs. On the first addition, it will scan for all instruments in the current project that have multiple outputs. It will find BFD2, and will show you the BFD2 outputs.
4. For your bundle outputs, select the BFD2 outputs you would like to use. If you want a mono output, you'll need to set the bundle output to mono also. Bundles can be renamed for easier understanding of the routing. See "bundles.jpg"
5. In the tracks view, add in some AUX tracks.
6. For each of your Aux tracks, you need to point these to the bundle outputs you have created. You select this in the AUX's input drop down box - this will list all of the bundle outputs. See "tracks.jpg".
7. Now go back to BFD2, and route your kitpieces to the outputs in the mixer window.
8. Now if you play some grooves, you should see that in DP's mixer window, your AUX tracks should be active - their inputs should be coming through. See "mixer.jpg".
The problem is, in DP you can't just assign a instruments output to an audio track. You need to do it through a bundle. Included in this email is a demonstration project and a collection of screenshots to aid you further. The project is called test.
Also bear in mind that BFD2 has 32 outputs. 8 of these are stereo, and 16 are mono. In BFD2's mixer window, "mono 1" corresponds to output 17, "mono 2" to 18, and so on.

Gosh... I have no idea. All I remember is that my G4 was significantly compromised when I upgraded from OS9 to OS10.3. I got the impression that OSX on a G4 was not a good combination when trying to run a DAW with VIs.666 wrote:Do you guys have any idea if BFD2's performance would be substantially different between Tiger and Leopard? I'm still using Tiger. I don't know which OS would be better on my Dual 1.25 G4.
But fortunately your G4 is faster than mine was...

The reason I installed leopard on my dual G4 was because I needed to install more/bigger hard drives so it seamed like a good time to make the move.
I have noticed an increase in performance as far as OS goes DP5.13 also seams fine.
But spending more time with BFD2 yesterday when I played build in groves my Mac would start to choke.
However I don't use groves but would like to for fun.
The way I work is to build a drum track starting with kick/snare adding one piece at a time and printing the audio went I get close to what I want.
That seams to be working fine and the latency I had in BFD seams to be gone in BFD2.
If I had to do this again I think I would look for a deal on a newer used Mac.
In the meantime the testing continues.

I am interested in how it goes please post back.
I've also notice theres an update for v2.
I have a question for the group here, In BFD1 I was using it in rewire mode now v2 does not support rewire.
So I have to figure out a different setup, the way it worked before was DP MIDI out to BFD and all of BFD Channels coming back on separate AUX tracks into DP.
When I finish composing MIDI I would just freeze the AUX tracks and it would print the audio.
What the best way to set this up now that theres no rewire?
I guess a step by step or man page would really help me.
