Only Cubase this options. You can chose "blocks" or a "piano roll" for each MIDI track in the Arrange window. It's called "edit in place" - a great feature actually.Shooshie wrote:
I guess this debate will always be around. When I work in Logic, I feel like I'm wearing chains. I can't move around, and I don't feel the freedom I have in DP. I'm always wrestling with those damned regions. Why won't Logic let you just turn them off?

Pro Tools also lets you edit MIDI is blocks, and also regions (in addition to the piano roll, etc.). In region mode, you can move start and end points around, and in general do all the same editing things with MIDI as you can with audio. Great stuff.PG wrote:Only Cubase this options. Seriously, to me, this would be the one MAJOR thing that would completely level the playing field, or actually give DP the advantage. Really if they just went whole hog in the Song window that would work too. Allowing you to group MIDI by region instead of bar in the track Overview would really help IMO, and having it selectable, or not that way in the Sequencer window would give you both options at the same time!pcm wrote:Pro Tools also lets you edit MIDI is blocks, and also regions (in addition to the piano roll, etc.). Anyway I'm excited about 6, and look forward to it, hopefully the added visual information available in Track Overview with vertical zoom weens me off of Logic!

My guess is June, since when did MOTU do anything quickly?

M2 Studio Ultra, RME Babyface FS, Slate Raven Mti2, NI SL88 MKII, Linnstrument, MPC Live II, Launchpad MK3. Hundreds of plug ins.
