Well that sucks. The main reason I wanted to buy DP was for the drum editor.

I hope this was meant to be ironic.

i never really used the drum editor. i had reason fro the longest and the drum editor in that thing is a breeze. now i have battery and the first thing i noticed is there is no view of dotted or triplets like the regular MIDI sequencer. what'S up with that? i'm supposed to not use triplets in muh drums? or i'm supposed to switch to the other MIDI window for accents in triplets?

He-he...that's funny.

But seriously, folks...I sometimes feel that I walk alone wth the DE but I still think it's one of the coolest features ever. If this disappearing notes stuff happened to me, I would be majorly pissed.

it happened to me pretty much immediately, very basic stuff. i'd love to use the DE, but just can't till it's working reliably.

Same here.

I've migrated directly from an ATARI STe with Cubase 2.01.
The mapping and naming of notes is missed, but who needs the headaches?
It ought to be a no-brainer, just like Cubase 2.01 was some 15 years ago.

Some MOTU-magic is required in the DE, methinks.
So for now, it's still the good ol' Grid Editor. :?

Well - I'm new at this...still trying to figure out how to break up recorded material into "songs" and basic stuff....

But when I get along to the DE...it'd be nice if it worked...
Do you folks pass along these concerns to special bigshots who
work for MOTU.... :D :?:

It does work.
I just kept losing my drum names, and got tired of re-naming.
I've seen various beefs regarding the DE, none of which has rendered it useless.
The fact that we seek and expect perfection, especially from MOTU, probably plays a small part in all this.

We wish!
It's more that we hope that one of the "Gods of MOTU", as we know them, stumbles across whatever we're discussing and decides to lend a hand.
We know said Gods keep an eye on things; we just can't be sure of when or how often.
At least one God, Magic Dave, alias MagicD, is semi-visible, and has been known to appear in response to cultured cries for help.

Take heart, kenoflife; the Gods may be present. Or not.

I use a Yamaha DD-5 for playing drums stuff in which is too difficult to program (eg jazz-type stuff).

It's not exactly sophisticated, but it works, has footbuttons for kick/hats - and you can play it with sticks.

Hey, Kaszper.

I checked out the DD-5.
Not bad for a mid-eighties machine.
Beats (!) the crappy keyboard-entry method I use. :D

Thanks for sharing.

Sorry, Monkey ••“ I should've typed DD-55.

It's one of those modules with touch-sensitive pads, rather than a drum machine per se.

So I decided to have a go at using the Drum Editor, for fast input of drum machine like parts (quantized, constant velocities) and now I've experienced the "Disappearing Notes" bug. It seems that every time I penciled in a note, another random note somewhere in the sequence would be erased! What's up with that?! Obviously this renders the drum editor completely unusable, but the drum editor is one of the main features with it being one of the main tabs of the consolidated window and it doesn't work properly.

I've read the advice here, just stick to the graphic editor, and while that is the best course of action at this point it still seems a shame because the drum editor is a good concept and would be a great, fast tool for certain styles.

I've had this problem occur to me in DP3.11. It's never happened since then. I have no idea why not (not that I'm complaining).

However, MOTU did mention that the Drum Editor has been redesigned for DP6. Let's hope for the best.
