Hi everyone,
I'm a long time DP user but new to MachFive2. I have had owned a whole range of samplers over the years - Sequential/Roland/EMU/Samplecell - and have a stack of legacy library CDs. I've only had MachFive a week or so, but must admit I'm a little disappointed with its ability to deliver 'universal compatibility'. I was prepared for the it to fall short, but now I can't even seem to load Apple loops. I must be doing something wrong but trying to load them into a preset or dragging them from the finder I get an Invalid Program error. I am expecting a few difficulties with my Roland libraries but surely Apple loops should be a straight forward affair. Could someone enlighten me? Thanks very much.

Are they .aif or .caf Apple Loops? All Apple Loops used to be .aif files, but with recent Apple updates (the latest versions of GarageBand, Logic, and Final Cut Pro, I think) they started supplying Apple Loops as .caf files, compressed with the Apple Lossless codec. Most apps don't support .caf files (yet), and I'm guessing that even fewer support .caf files compressed with the Apple Lossless codec. Looking at MOTU's specs page for MachFive (here) they list support for "Apple Loops (.aif)" and I can verify that .aif Apple Loops work fine with me with MachFive 2.
"I don't see any method at all, sir."

Thank you. That would make sense. I'm having no problems with aif files. I presume that MOTU will move towards caf files support in the near future. On the positive side I'm appreciating the sample substitution facility with MIDI triggering in the browser window, even if the browser window itself feels rather (make that 'very') clunky. Have I missed something or is there really no 'search' facility? Seems everything that is good about the Mac interface has been eliminated in favour of cross platform consistency.
