Anyone any idea what's "fixed" by these new drivers? Anyone tried them yet?

Have downloaded but reluctant to install without more information.

I've installed them and they work well, not pops or crackles. There's a new option in the ASIO panel page for enabling MME, but other than that, I don't know what they've done. I'm happy with it.

FYI, I have an 8pre on

Intel Core 2 6320 @ 1.86GHz, 1862 Mhz, 2 Core(s), 2 Logical Processor(s)
BIOS Version/Date Intel Corp. MQ96510J.86A.1719.2007.1216.0002, 12/16/2007
Intel DG965WH motherboard
4 gb RAM
Running Windows Vista Ultimate 32, SP1

The MME may be MOTU's move towards wave rt drivers in Vista, most of the wave rt drivers I've encountered use MME, which is not like the old MME in Win 98

Well for one thing, they don't crash Cubase now if you change the buffers (latency), and they don't reboot XP instantly if you turn the 828MkII off .... both problems I was having with the previous drivers. The MME option was always there ... I don't see any new functionality using them with the 828MkII .... it would have been nice to be able to relabel channel strips in Cuemix Console.

I have XP (32bit) SP2- Intel Pentium 4, 3.0GHz 1.5 GB of RAM... the funny thing is my 896HD was a pain to get working the first time, about 1 1/2 yrs ago, then, somehow (i think it was switching the ADAT's on) - i got it working. Had it that way until about 2 weeks ago, when I unhooked it to set it up with my new Dell Inspiron 1501... That laptop has even BETTER specs then my old desktop, and I got a 'Best Connectivity' firewire Expresscard (TI drivers) and it worked for about an hour, and then began Squeeling and popping - never playing anything right for more than seconds. All latencey settings wouldn't fix it, and of course un/reinstalling drivers don't help... NOTHING worked. On the phone with MOTU for about 3 hours total, no one could offer real support. New drivers didn't work. Then reconnecting it to my old desktop, it's NOT WORKING, doing the same squeeling thing.

I finally got it to play straight, on my desktop, not my laptop; (rolling back to my orig instal CD drivers) but i had to crank to latencey to over 1000, making it useless for recording purposes.

The device works flauless on my old mac, it's a dinosaur though. this is how I know the the hardware is fine, it's just the drivers, i suspect.

I'd love to hear someones had the same issues, and found a way to fix it... cause I'm loosing my hair here. -Zeb
