New AU Manager - Keep away - keep FAR away!

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

Here's my review for VersionTracker:

This has virtually NO documentation and no info online as to how to work it.

It DOES NOT repeat DOES NOT allow for selecting AUs per application. It is a universal ON/OFF.

But wait! After running the app, the toolbar disappeared from all finder windows. Yeah, I can (and did) get it back (view options) but why did it go south?

Also, Little Snitch reports that the program wants to phone home on every launch. And why is that??? Checking for a new version?

I'd stay away. As for the vendor, I say "Come back when you grow up." When the app does what it says in your hyperbole, maybe then. The phone home thing? Not a chance.

For UNation folks who are morbidly interested, here are the links. I wouldn't mess with it myself...

It works fine on my Mac Pro 10.4.11.
I had a problem early on 2.0.2, but Matthew fixed it in about 2 weeks.

You should go to their site and complain.

BTW there is a new Audio Unit Manager 2.5.0 Beta 1 for Leopard only.

MLC, realy easy in AudioFinder :
menu window, "plug-in manager"
or
Com+P

It will chek both root and user folders and sorte plugins by format (AU, MAS, VST, TDM)
Great help anytime, but a must in troubleshoting if a plugin screws your DAW.
